Read to Achieve

North Carolina Read to Achieve (RTA) Program

G.S. §115C 83.1 The goal of the Read to Achieve program is to ensure that every student is reading at or above grade level by the end of grade three, and continues to progress in reading proficiency so that he/she can read, comprehend, integrate, and apply complex texts needed for secondary education and career success. (2012-142, s. 7A.1(b))

Throughout the school year, elementary schools work with students to improve their reading skills in preparation for end of year testing and success at the next grade level.  Teachers used a variety of resources to monitor student progress, as well as enrich and challenge students in reading.
